Ellen: 'I do not Need a Clearance from the Legislature' to Travel

Monrovia-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says she is not compelled to get clearance from the National Legislature before leaving the country.

Quoting amendments made on the Foreign Travel Statues under Executive Law in 1972, the president said she is only responsible to inform the Legislature when undertaking foreign travels.

Amendments of the Executive Law Statues of 1992, to the earlier 1956 Statues grants the Head of State only the responsibility to inform the National Legislature before making foreign trips and not seek their approval before travel.
