Ellen Is Going To The Mansion

In the name of fairness, I humbly request for space to respond to Mr. Jeremy Jallabah’s diatribe captioned: Where Are You Going, Ellen?” that was posted on your website on August 27th. There is concurrence among semanticists that one’s interest basically dictates one’s choice of word, hence I have no intention of glorifying Jallabah’s reckless characterization of the next President of the Republic of Liberia in defamatory and derogatory terms, but to unambiguously answer his pertinent question that ELLEN JOHNSON-SIRLEAF IS TRIUMPHANTLY GOING TO THE EXECUTIVE MANSION, to provide much-needed leadership for the Liberian people; to ensure that henceforth, public funds are actually expended for the good of the public; to engender a culture of meritocracy in the Liberian society; to ensure due regard for the rule of law and democratic precepts, and to reconcile and unite the peace-starved people of Liberia.

Jallabah, Ellen is definitely going to the Executive Mansion, not only to accelerate Liberia’s development process, but to also make the Mansion completely accessible to ordinary Liberians, because after all, it was built with their money; to make the executive chair a seat in which one can humbly sit to serve the people rather than sitting there to enslave the people.

Ellen's Spokesman Blasts Woewiyu

"Thomas Woewiyu is broke! We all know how he illegally possessed the property of Mr. Chez Jacky just to survive in Liberia, but that didn't work. Woewiyu is total broke and as such, he is on a paid mission," Unity Party campaign spokesman Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan said.

Speaking to this paper on Saturday at the UP Campaign headquarters in Sinkor, Mr. Ngafuan said, "Look guy, we don't want to dignify this so-called Open Letter to Mrs. Sirleaf. In the first place, the diction in the letter is not that of Woewiyu, he is not educated to write such a letter. Woewiyu sat down and explained his lies to someone who reduced such into a so-called letter."

On last Friday, some dailies published an open letter under the signature of Mr. Thomas Woewiyu, accusing Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of providing a substantial amount of money to the efforts of the Charles Taylor-led National Patriotic Forces of Liberia (NPFL) against the Samuel Doe led regime.

Mr. Ngafuan said, "Tom Woewiyu has allowed himself to be used by the Liberia Action Party. We got credible information that an executive of LAP went around with the letter to newspaper institutions and paid for its publication. All these are ploys by LAP and its paid agent Woewiyu to distract us from our campaign strategy, but we are not deterred, as we are moving forward.

"We expect to see more trash like the one in the papers on Friday, because sponsors of these acts see Madam Sirleaf and the Unity Party as winners in the forthcoming elections, so they are jittering. They have designed strategy to embark upon lies and machinations to stain the character of Madam Sirleaf, just to sway away her supporters, but mind you the more they talk the more our support increases. They are not perturbed by the lies of the opposition, because they foresee an overwhelming victory at the polls on elections day.

"Look at the character of the man Tom Woewiyu. He was onetime Tom Smith, but today he's Tom Woewiyu. He changed this name because of a criminal act he was involved in with one Frank Chenoweth at the then Ducor Palace Hotel. They stole money and escape by wrapping themselves in mattresses to jump down from the hotel. So, in order to escape Liberia and get to the United States, he changed his name to Thomas Woewiyu.

"We all know the record of Woewiyu. He has no credible record, not only in Liberia, but other places around the world. He is not respected even the little child that is born today in Liberia today knows the criminal record of Woewiyu. The man is broke, so he has offered himself to the higher bidder. And, we know people in these elections who have money going around getting people who are purchasable like Woewiyu. If the coming elections were about money, we know who would win.

"People who are sponsoring Woewiyu know that they cannot win election in Liberia. So they have become jittery because they see Madam Sirleaf's chance of winning the October 11 election. And, for this reason, they will find it difficult to survive because of their corrupt deals. They have realized that Madam Sirleaf, a drunk major for accountability, transparency and justice, is about to assume the mantle of leadership in this country to clean the mess they have created, so they are jittery!

"The sponsored letter in the dailies is full of lies. Lets look at one of Woewiyu's lies, some people in and out of the country quotes Madam Sirleaf as saying "level the Mansion," but he has come out to say Madam Sirleaf said, \u2018level Monrovia. That is completely strange around here. We are not surprised because as we approach the elections, we will see more of these trash coming out against Madam Sirleaf just to distract us from our campaign strategies, but they lie. We are fully focused and spending our quality time to put our campaign strategies in full gear.

"One thing the sponsors of the letter fail to realize is Mr. Taylor and his NPFL got massive support from the Liberian populace because Liberians saw the action of Mr. Taylor as the solution to getting rid of the tyrannical regime of Mr. Samuel Doe. Mrs. Sirleaf has never denied her support to the NPFL. All along, she has been saying that she supported a movement that was providing support to the NPFL, and when it became clear that NPFL was going against the objectives of the mission, she stopped supporting the group, so what is the big deal. If we want to prosecute those that supported Mr. Taylor and his NPFL, then we will be talking about almost all of the Liberian population because some bulk of the Liberian population provided either financial, moral or even spiritual support to the NPFL during the early days of the war in 1990."

Madam Sirleaf’s Ascendancy To The Presidency Is An Inescapable Judgment Of History, SaysYEP Leader

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me state that Madam Sirleaf’s ascendancy to the presidency is an inescapable judgment of History and nothing can reverse this grand historic march. The Liberian people can no longer afford to be led by half-baked, terribly corrupt, and dictatorial leaders. The Liberian people can no longer tolerate the excruciating effects of bad governance; they want a reversal of their dismal financial situations; they want to make pays that will take them home; they want the restoration of social services – water and electricity; they want paved roads; they want their children to leave the waywardness of the streets to the productiveness of the classroom; they want their dear Mama Liberia to be respected by other nations. They want prosperity. And that’s why they want Madam EJS, a drum major for good governance, transparency, justice and fairplay.

Ladies and Gentlemen, support for the candidacy of Madam Sirleaf has gained steam across the country and this groundswell of popular support has begun to put jitters in the systems of some presidential contenders, some of whom have now stooped so low that they are now engaging in gutter politics and the propagation of outright lies in a desperate attempt to be President. Cllr. Sherman and his COTOL are now saying that the Liberian people should not elect Madam Sirleaf because she has enemies who will fight back. By this statement, Cllr. Sherman implies that he does not have enemies – he is whiter than whiteness and more immaculate than Jesus Christ who, despite being the epitome of virtues, was crucified by a host of enemies. Cllr. Sherman forgets to know that in a country where corruption is going through the roof, where a domineering dictator suffocates freedom of speech, muzzles the press, rigs elections, and where a few live in paradise while the majority of the people live in penury, men and women of good conscience cannot afford to be neutral for fear of making enemies. They must make enemies in order to right the wrongs and put the country on the right track, for Martin Luther King rightly says that passive acceptance of evil is equivalent to an endorsement of evil, and as John Bunyan says, “In a country where people are imprisoned unjustly, the right place for a just man is the prison.”

Now Cllr. Sherman says that he does not have enemies, but can he make such a statement among Bong Mines Workers, the down-trodden Firestone workers, the many parties litigant against whom he has won cases. Can we now say, Don’t vote Cllr. Sherman because the Bong Mines Workers, the Firestone Workers and those who have lost of hundreds of thousands of dollars and probably millions of dollars in cases won by Sherman will bring war because their “enemy” has ascended to the presidency.? What a naivete!

And again he says, “Don’t vote for people who participated in wars because they have enemies who will fight back.” Now our question to Cllr. Sherman is, Who is your senatorial candidate for Nimba? Is he a priest? Doesn’t he have enemies? How can you ask the good people of Nimba to vote for a former INPFL and NPFL General and at the same time say don’t vote for people who participated in the war? This is a classic example of political chicanery and treachery and speaks volumes of the political character of the man Sherman.
